New Fitness DVD for Those Unable to Exercise

A New Kind of Workout for People with

Physical Disabilities

Imagine having an extremely successful workout by moving less! Now you can, with a new series of three 45-minute fitness DVDs called Comfort Zone, Feeling Younger Workout that ask you to move less for a more effective workout.

The series helps with improving posture and relaxing the shoulders, relieving tension in the neck and spine, and releasing the lower back.   Instructors in the program teach you how to retrain your nervous system using a series of gentle movements and mental visualization.   Somatic education, or mind-body education, simply requires a floor or chair, even a bed, and quiet.

“People with chronic pain, general aches and pains, and those recovering from illness are able to gently improve their physical well-being using the methods in Comfort Zone, Feeling Younger Workout series,” explains Montgomery. “If you are at your physical peak, these DVDs can help you become more mindful during your workouts and may prevent injury. It also improves the performance of artists, athletes, and students.”

About the Program

Exercisers do not have to do the entire program right away to notice the benefits, and are encouraged to practice, even if only for just a few minutes a day. "It is more effective to practice three times in one week rather than once a week for three weeks,” according to Karen Toth – Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, Anat Baniel Method Practitioner, Pilates Method Practitioner, and Studio Director of Stretch Your Life from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. “It is your brain that is benefiting most with these movements,” says Toth.

Dr. Antonio Bifero, a chiropractor at the Institute for Integrative Health & Wellness with a BS in Biology and MS in Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois, urges his patients to use the Comfort Zone DVDs at home as part of their overall treatment. "I strongly encourage each patient to be an active participant in his or her treatment and recover at their own pace. These DVDs are perfect for that goal,” says Dr. Bifero.

"I am most proud when a special needs parent or someone with fibromyalgia tells me that they feel better after using a DVD," says Montgomery. She plans to unveil a new fitness DVD series soon for knees, wrists, ankles, and hips.
